Oncology

Overview

We know it can be extremely difficult to discover that your pet has cancer. We’re here to support you every step of the way—from diagnosis through every phase of treatment.

We offer a range of advanced treatment options, including immunotherapy, and tailor each plan to meet your pet’s unique needs. Our goal is to help fight the disease while preserving the best possible quality of life.

Why would my pet need oncology treatments?

If your pet has been diagnosed with cancer, our experienced team will work with you to create the most effective treatment plan. Depending on the specific type of cancer, treatment may include one or more of the following options:

  • Radiation Therapy

  • Chemotherapy

  • Immunotherapy

  • Nutrition/Diet

When should my pet have oncology treatments?

We will determine the appropriate treatment schedule based on your pet’s condition and how the cancer is progressing. If the disease spreads or becomes more aggressive, a combination of treatments, including immunotherapy, may be recommended.

How do you treat cancer in my pet?

Our approach is focused on providing maximum benefit with minimal impact on your pet’s comfort and well-being. Depending on the diagnosis, we may recommend:

  • Radiation Therapy: Radiation can be used in various ways to treat tumors, relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and slow or prevent recurrence. It targets the tumor directly with focused energy beams.

  • Chemotherapy: This involves a tailored combination of drugs designed to kill cancer cells. Administered via injection, chemotherapy is customized for your pet's condition and overseen closely by our veterinary team.

  • Immunotherapy: A cutting-edge option that works by stimulating or enhancing the body’s natural immune response to target and destroy cancer cells. Immunotherapy may be used alone or in conjunction with other treatments to improve outcomes and extend quality time with your pet.

  • Nutrition/Diet: A well-balanced, supportive diet can help pets undergoing cancer treatment stay strong, promote healing, and improve their overall resilience during therapy.

It’s important to understand that while these treatments may not always cure cancer, they are designed to manage the disease and extend your pet’s life with the best possible comfort and care. Many of our patients have gained months—and sometimes even years—of additional joyful time with their families.
