Dr. Drazner joined the staff of Deerfield Animal Care Center in March 2025. He brings with him over 50 years of experience in providing expert and compassionate care for companion pets.
A native of the Chicagoland area, Dr. Drazner is a graduate of the University of Illinois (Champaign/Urbana) – DVM 1972. As a veterinary student, Dr. Drazner became a member of Phi Zeta honorary veterinary society and was awarded the Lester Fisher Award as the outstanding senior student in Small Animal Medicine. He completed an internship and residency at the world famous Animal Medical Center in New York City (1972-1974). He then became the Staff Internist at the Alameda East Animal Hospital (1974-1981).
During his time in Colorado, Dr. Drazner was a visiting lecturer in Internal Medicine at Colorado State University, College of Veterinary Medicine (Fort Collins, Colorado) and the University of Colorado Medical Center (Denver, Colorado). He later moved back to the Chicago area and became Chief of Staff at Animal Specialty Services of Cook County (Des Plaines, Illinois 1981-2011).
In 1979, he became Board-Certified Diplomat of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM). The author of Small Animal Endocrinology, Dr. Drazner has contributed to Current Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary Internal Medicine, Small Animal Surgery, and Small Animal Gastroenterology. He has published over 25 articles in various professional journals. In addition, Dr. Drazner has presented at over 25 seminars in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and France.
Dr. Drazner lives in Highland Park, Illinois with his wife of 55 years, Sharon. Some of the services he can provide include, ultrasonography, electro-cardiology, cancer therapy (chemotherapy, immunotherapy), etc.
